MY ROLE: UI/UX DESIGNER
DURATION: 12 MONTHS
TOOLS: FIGMA
BACKGROUND
The "Florida Secured Transaction Registry" is a centralized Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filing and retrieval system containing initial financing statements, amendments, assignments, and other UCC filings as authorized by the State of Florida.
The original website was launched in the 1990s. The website reflected the technical limitations of its time. It was split into two platforms: a public site for general information and a filing site for online transactions. With no designers involved in the initial development, the interface was functional but lacked polish and user-centric design.
GOAL
Merge the UCC public site with the user portal to create a unified platform. Redesign the interface with ImageAPI's branding, delivering a professional aesthetic while enhancing accessibility and usability.

OLD INTERFACE | PAIN POINTS
OLD INTERFACE & PAIN POINTS
The public website was overly text-heavy with limited functionality. A lack of clear structure and visual hierarchy created confusion for users navigating the site.
Essential features like "Search," "Filing Fee," and "FAQ" were available on the public site, while user portal existed on a separated site. The setup required users to search for the filing on the public site after submitting the filing through the filing site.
Customers submitting filings did not receive adequate or user-friendly messages indicating why the filing was rejected. This led to potential confusion or uncertainty regarding the rejected filings.
THE PAIN POINTS
-
Text heavy
-
Too much unnecessary infomation
-
Missing focused content

DESIGN DECISIONS
- Reorganized Site Infrastructure: Redesigned the site innfrastructure to integrate the public site with the online filing portal. Essential information was categorized and organized into a dropdown menu within the navigation bar for better accessibility.
- Prominent CTA: Added a clear and prominent CTA button within the hero image to provide users with quick and easy access to the login portal.
- Streamlined Announcements: Simplified the announcement section by using a carousel content slider to highlight key updates. This approach reduced the visual clutter and addressed the text-heavy design issue.
- User-Centered Landing Page: Prioritized the most frequently used features on the landing page based on insights gathered from client interviews.
